Lenses
Today’s lenses are available in a myriad of materials and designs. Special color lenses are available to enhance your tennis or your golf game. Special lenses have been designed to make using a computer easier. Polaroid lenses enhance sailing and fishing.
Materials range from glass to plastics to polycarbonate. New technology is bringing us lenses that are hi-index, which are thinner and lighter in weight.
Special aspheric designs are available to enhance both the cosmetics of high-powered lenses and to give better optics.
Resin lenses make up 98% of prescription lenses today.
- Hi Index Lenses
- For the person with a high prescription there is a variety of thinner, lighter hi-index materials available. You can choose from thin, thinner and thinnest. We will be glad to consult with you as to the best lens for your prescription and your needs.
Polycarbonate Lenses
- Polycarbonate is a Hi-Index material with superior impact-resistance. It is the lens of choice for children, sports and anyone that wants the best protection possible.
- Photochromatic Lenses
- The automatic lens. Indoors the lens is almost clear and outdoors, the lens darkens.
- Polarized Lenses
- Glare causes eyestrain, washes out colors and can interfere with vision. Polarized sunlenses provide unsurpassed visual clarity and comfort while protecting eyes from harmful UV rays.
Lens Coatings

Anti-reflective Coating
Glare from computer screens? Glare from fluorescent lighting? Glare from headlights driving at night? All of these everyday occurrences can add up to cause stress and strain on your eyes.
Anti-reflective lenses reduce glare that causes eye fatigue. They also reduce glare caused by bright oncoming headlights, making for safer drive.
Another great advantage is that you look better. People can clearly see your eyes, without all of the reflections. And without the reflection, photographs will show your eyes, not your lenses. New scratch and smudge resistant coatings are now available.
Lens Designs
Today we can make lenses in many designs to fit your particular visual needs. Lenses range from single vision to many types of multifocals.
Progressive Addition Lenses
When most people reach their forties, they notice that they have to keep "stretching" their arms to read. This is a result of a condition called presbyopia. This is a natural process of aging. The crystalline lens in the eye is no longer to focus clearly on objects close up.
Progressive lenses are the most advanced lens design for people with presbyopia. They allow you to see near, far and everywhere in between without annoying, distracting lines
We have all of the top brands available, but we have found the best success with Zeiss, Varilux and Hoya . We will be happy to help you choose the proper lens for you based on your prescription and the material you would like to use. The new Hoya ID lens eliminates swimming and swaying sensations associated with typical progressive lenses. These lenses are the world's first Double-surface integrated Design.
Computer Lenses
Today people of all ages use computers for career, education and recreation. People that require reading glasses or multifocals often have problems with seeing the computer comfortably.
Lenses have been developed to address those needs. These lenses have been designed to be used at the unique viewing angles and distances associated with computer terminals. For the ultimate in comfort, an absorbing tint that is a light intensity filter formulated for monitors is available as well as an anti-reflective coating that will minimize or eliminate reflections caused by overhead or excessive lighting. It will also control ghost images and increase light transmission.
Children’s Glasses
Gone are the days when children had a choice of two frames, pink or blue. Today children can choose from frames in every color of the rainbow. We carry lafont, Disney, and Flexon children’s frames. We also carry children's sunglasses.
Because we believe that children must have polycarbonate lenses for safety, we do not charge extra for this premium material.
